Having a thick skin
What you need is a thick skin"
It has been 6 months since I officially got into the speaking or media world and I have realised that one of the biggest shields that is needed to grow and excell in the field is a thick skin.
Barely two weeks when i first came, i was dead shocked with the way work went for me, i even fell sick and I was just waiting for the first month of probation to end so i could quit and say "I tried for one month"ππ. I spoke with a senior colleague and she said something that has accompanied me till date and will accompany me till I get to the Zenith of my career.
She said " all you need to develop and grow is a thick skin, put your mind and heart on your target and you'll get there." She shared some of her early experiences and I fed from her lessons.
It's is six months now and I'm grateful to share with you What I gathered from my amazing senior colleague and friend,
1. Having a thick skin means knowing why you got in in the first place and being ready to do all it takes to get to your desired destination.
2. Having a thick skin means having a clear vision for your career and or business.
3. Having a thick skin means being self sustainable so much that even when your superiors or colleagues don't believe that you can do something remarkable, you still push.
4. Having a thick skin means not comparing yourself with those ahead of you, rather, see them as a source of motivation.
5. Having a thick skin means having a mental attitude that says you shouldn't feel entitled but responsible for your actions and results.
6.Having a thick skin means being pro-active and not being re-active. That is making it a habit to wisely choose the things that you react to.
7. Having a thick skin means being able to do what you have to do when you have to do it whether you feel like it or not.
8. It means being unstoppable
Maybe, just maybe that is what you need to develop to excell in your career, education, relationship or business.
Cheers to having a thick skin ππΎπ₯
